Bellevue Rheinhotel Nachhaltigkeit

Sustainability

We are committed to the environment

The ongoing climate change is also presenting the hotel and catering industry with growing challenges. The call for environmentally friendly hosts is growing louder, as catering for guests who change almost daily is also a burden on the environment.

We are committed to the responsible use of natural resources in favour of our environment. With our numerous sustainability measures to reduce and avoid environmentally harmful emissions, we make a voluntary contribution with added value. For example, we have solar panels on the roof of our hotel to support the supply of hot water. The Résidence Bellevue, which opened in 2014, has an innovative energy concept: geothermal energy, fresh air supply, solar hot water system, motion detectors, heat exchangers and maximum thermal insulation not only stand for the sustainability of the property, but also mean that the Résidence Bellevue is taking on a pioneering role. We have currently installed an electric charging station in our car park to offer our guests the opportunity to recharge their electric vehicles on site.

In addition to the purchasing philosophy and the preference for regional suppliers, which supports animal welfare and the avoidance of long transport routes, the idea of protecting the environment runs through the entire hotel.

Over the past few years and in the course of the annual renovation and modernisation measures, more emphasis has been placed on this idea. For example, double insulation of the hotel building and the roof, as well as the installation of special soundproof windows, keeps the heat in in winter and the cool in summer.

The heat given off by the cold stores in the kitchen is redirected to heat the swimming pool in the wellness area (heat exchanger). The solar system on the roof of the building contributes to the hotel's environmentally friendly hot water supply and heating support. The heating system is state of the art and, coupled with a sophisticated heating system, reduces CO2 emissions.

Guests appreciate the fact that the sauna and steam bath facilities are not switched on around the clock for ecological reasons, but are switched on at the guests' request. All sanitary facilities are equipped with flush-stop technology and guests can decide for themselves whether towels are changed daily or not. Even small things such as paper-saving measures in daily operations are widespread and firmly anchored in the minds of the staff.

Further sustainability measures at the Bellevue Rheinhotel:

Measures in the area of housekeeping

- Change of linen according to guest request, or every 2 days (towel change programme)

Measures in the catering sector

- Short transport routes, as food is mainly sourced from the region
- Regional wines (70% Germany - of which approx. 40% from the Middle Rhine)
- Regional products (slow food)

- No disposable packaging where possible
- Use of 100% biodegradable paper straws instead of plastic straws
- No Nestle water products due to current behaviour with regard to water rights

Measures in general

- Exclusive use of biodegradable cleaning agents
- Waste separation in all areas
- Waste paper is collected in press containers and collected for recycling
- Use of LED lighting throughout the hotel
