The Saar-Hunsruck Climb

Over 70% of nature trails. This unique feature distinguishes the Dream Loops of the Saar-Hunsruck Climb. The climb stretches from Trier over Idar-Oberstein to Boppard and offers a new hiking experience in Rhineland-Palatinate on its 218 kilometres.

Track layout and Highlights

A total of 15 single stages with 84 dream loops offer the opportunity to explore the nature parks Saar-Hunsruck and Soonwald-Nahe. Boppard is the outer limit. A total of 6 dream loops are located here, some highly awarded amongst them. With an appealing scenery the dream loops are an eventful contrast to the Rheinburgenweg and the Boppard via ferrata. Extending the connectivity to other single stages is currently in realization. Thus the dream loops will in future unite the Saar-Hunsruck-Climb and lead a third distance trail to Boppard.

Starting in Boppard you have the opportunity to reach the two dream loops “Hasenkammer” and “Ehrbachklamm” by taking the Hunsruck train. The „Ehrbachklamm“, passing the Ehrenburg, leads to Brodenbach on the Mosel and is one of the most beautiful of the region. Further dream loops in and around Boppard carry the names “Elfenlay” and „Via Ferrata Boppard“. They can be reached per pedes from the hotel. Then again „Five Lake View“ and „Rhinegold“ have their starting points in Bad Salzig and Hirzenach and can comfortably be reached by public transport.

Recommended Equipment

Please calculate about 4 hours for a single dream loop stage. Protective clothes in case of bad weather and firm shoes are necessary. Lunch packages can be ordered in the hotel in advance. Information material as well as individual timetables of the public transport are available at our reception.
